As an artist, my work has variation in style and composition, usually following the guidelines within the assignments while attending school. Whether it be a drawing, mixed media project, photography, or graphic design, I never fully explored my potential with experimentation. In college, I have discovered my preferences for art styles and thrived on utilizing vibrant colors. Utilizing my color preferences, I have been experimenting with different photographic techniques, such as long exposure, double exposure, light painting, and using tools like prisms and color gels. As I experimented with my photographic style, I realized my love and fascination for the abstraction of light, color, and composition. My photography journey started when I received my first camera at sixteen years old. Over the years, my photography has changed dramatically, shifting from landscape images using natural light to utilizing the photography studio for portraits and commercial-style images, with manipulated light. This area of photography interests me greatly and I plan on pursuing it further. I started seriously diving into graphic design in my junior year of college after years of debating whether I should pursue this as a second major. As soon as I started, I fell in love with the tools and the process. Vibrant and stylized visuals also appear in my designs. My graphic design projects vary, exploring of typography, book jackets, playing cards, postage stamps, and multiple human rights posters. Multiple mediums of art have impacted my artistic journey, especially the correlation between photography and graphic design. This has given me the opportunity to integrate my photography in my graphic design work. I hope to continue using vibrant colors, conceptual and stylized imagery, and the combination of photography and graphic design moving forward in my artistic journey.
